Glyn began his working life as a chemical engineer, but today is an executive coach working with RTC Leadership and Coaching.
His background is in production management where he found working with people and teams much more fulfilling than engineering and he joined the North British Distillery in 1989 as Plant Manager. He subsequently became a Production Manager responsible for the day to day management of the whole whisky manufacturing process.
In 1997 an opportunity arose for him to project manage an employee development programme aimed at driving business improvement and putting in place processes to help and support employees. This evolved into a generalist HR role and he progressed to HR Director. After 29 years at the North British Glyn is now focussing on executive coaching and leadership development.
During his career Glyn has acquired MSc’s in People & Organisational Development & Advanced Leadership Practice and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). He is a skilled trainer, coach and mentor and has also facilitated Action Learning Sets and Open Space events. He is also trained to use a number of psychometric tools including ability tests, SHL’s Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ), Myers-Briggs (MBTI) and Thomas International’s PPA.
Glyn is a member of the Scottish HR Leadership Group. He also chaired the Spirits Industry Vocational Qualifications Group for 7 years, was an Industry board member of the Scotland Food & Drink Skills Academy (2014/15) and served on the Whisky Industry’s HR Directors Group for 10 years.
